Unable to add Tuner with M4 Mac mini macOS 26.1

Player VerUnable to add HDhomerun Tuner with MACos 26.1 and m4 Mac mini

Mac mini 2024 Apple M4 Pro, macOS 26.1

Plex Media Server = Version 1.43.0.10231

I was able to record a show using my tuner but could not watch live TV. When I looked at the settings under “Live TV and DVR” it showed a message that the tuner was not available. I deleted the DVR and tried to add it back but it could not fine any hardware we recognize.

My work around was to install the PMS server on a M1 MacBook Pro running MAC0s26.1 where I was able to add the tuner, no issues. I deleted the Plex folders in the Libraries → Application Support directory and reinstalled PMS. Still not able to add the tuner. The console log messages are listed below. I have also attached the log files. The grabber console entry says [Req#850] Grabber: No tuner key exists for device, couldn’t obtain device status. When trying to add the tuner

In a browser add your HDHomeRun LAN IP,

Check your Tuner Status and see if there are any updates

Also, I recommend a LAN reservation or LAN static IP in router for your HDHomeRun

The HdHomeRun can be reached by entering the IP address of the tuner. After PMS does not see the tuner on its own, you can enter the ip address. It cannot find it and the console gives the message above. The tuner was previously configured with PLEX and working fine. The system would record shows OK but I could not watch live. That is when I noticed the error message in the Settings → Live TV and DVR that the tuner could not be reached. So I removed it and have never been able to reinstall it on the M4 Mac mini. I did not notice the issue until I upgraded from 26.0.1 to 26.1 of MACos. However, it worked fine on a M1 Mac running 26.1 so I think it has something to do with the M4 Mac not be able to connect to the tuner.

In Mac OS when you go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network, does Plex show having local network access?

Yep that was the problem. It was not checked. Once I did, it worked. Thanks
