Unable to cast from my android phone to Chromecast

For several months now I’ve been unable to cast anything from my android Plex app to my Chromecast. I can connect with my Chromecast, choose the show with title page showing on screen. But when I try to play I get an invalid media error. However, I can cast the same shows direct from the website through my desktop without issue.
I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled several times, but no joy.
I’ve also tried the issue on my wife’s android and get the same issue.
