Server Version#: 1.41.9.9961 (latest)
Player Version#: 2025.21.0 (latest)
Since the March 2025 app update. I cannot play media through casting from mobile apps to Chromecasts anymore. I can successfully launch casting, but when I start to play media the Chromecast will just get stuck on showing the “PLEX” loading screen. Casting from the Web does still work.

Checks
Remote access (not relevant, I’m on LAN)
Playing media within Web player
Playing media within Plex(Amp) iOS/Android app
Casting media form Web player
Casting media from Plex(Amp) iOS/Android app
Solutions Attempted
- App rollback
- Server restart
- App uninstall / remove cache
- Optimize database / clean bundles
- Low quality media
Console ouput
In the Web interface take a look at the console (Settings → Manage → Console), but no errors popped up when starting casting.
App Rollback
I’ve attempted to fix the issue with a rollback to Android App version 10.26.0.2578 from APKMirror. Although this app is functional, casting also does not work here. According to the Console, it may just be that this version is no longer supported:
[Req#133a6] (Capabilities) Platform 'Android' not matched by plugin platform requirements
Conclusion
I had hoped that this App issue would have been resolved in the last three months, but alas. If Devs could pick this up, if anyone could help me debug, or knew a work-around, that’d all be great!
Also, I’ve downloaded the console logs; where can I share these in a secure way with the devs?
