Unable to claim server, "Not authorized"

Server Version#: idk
Player Version#:also idk
I am new to Plex, I saw a video on how to set one up on a raspberry pi and got interested, I followed every step and everything seemed fine until I had to get to [host-ip]:32400/web. I signed up and it immediately said not authorized. Ive checked online, yes i checked Preferences.xml but there are 2 lines of text because no one has actually connected to it, yes I am on the same network. no one has claimed it and no one can, i have wiped everything and remade it from scratch and still nothing is working. I still get that "Not authorized You do not have access to this server. You may be able to claim it by choosing “Open Plex…” from the Plex menu in the macOS menu bar or Windows system tray. "

it is 1:47 am i am going to sleep if anyone has any ideas i would be very thankful
Oh, one more thing i would like to state that i am doing this all over college internet, but that it hasnt stopped people setting up plex servers in the past

Yup same issue here, it’s driving me crazy

The issue for me was that Plex was blocking my VPN’s ISP, I switched VPN’s and it works like a charm.

Give this a shot.

It allows you to (re)claim the server using the Plex Claim Token.

With containers or public-facing IP addresses (like universities), Plex security gets in the way

This script, which runs inside (auto detection) or manual mode (-p option), in conjunction with a Plex Claim Token ( https://plex.tv/claim ) resets the recredentials / authentication no matter what the IP addresses are

My documentation about container support is behind.

You run this inside the container (docker exec -it container_name bash)

(( Replied to your other thread as well ))

It was not your VPN being blocked.

Your server had hammed Plex.tv with too many requests over a short period.

On Plex.tv, I see where you’ve used 4 certificates today plus one last night.

You normally use one per 3 months.

The combination of excessive cert requests plus new server claiming causes Plex.tv to throttle the IP address.

If you look in your logs, you’ll see those returns.

When this type thing happens:

  1. Figure out why so many certificates are being requested (usually a permission problem where the container is writing to HDD/SSD)

  2. Be patient for a couple hours until Plex.tv is convinced it’ll behave again – after which it will allow the IP address again

  3. Turning off your VPN changed your IP address. That’s why it worked.

I could kiss you, you beautiful wonderful person! It worked perfectly and now I have access. Thank you so much!
