Cannot claim my cloud instance plex server. Have been trying to fix this for about half a year but to no aviail.
Plex version 1.40.0.7775-456fbaf97
Ubuntu Linux 20.04.6 LTS (Focal Fossa)
After shutting down plexmediaserver for over 20 days, to reset any rate-limiting (429 responses), I decided to completely reinstall plexmediaserver before trying again.
rm -rf ‘/var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/’
Ended up with “Not authorized” message after trying to authorize the server, first directly to the public IP of my cloud server, then via ssh tunnel (localhost:32400/web/)
Tried the ResetUserCredentials script, but ended up with same error.
I do have another plex server on my LAN, don’t know if that means anything but it has been working fine all along.
Not sure if the logs are verbose or not, cannot access the settings. Plex Media Server.log (91.4 KB)
Thanks for the info, yep - server is hosted on Hetzner.
The timing correlates, but I never got that email.
Saw the storm in these forums around that time, but I guess it kept working for me for a while, until I had to reclaim the server.
Not having the setup at home is why I moved to cloud (hdd and fan noise)… Damn.
My media is in a Wasabi S3 bucket, so luckily not too big a deal to switch to another provider for the server.
Edit: would be nice to see a message for this in the logs, not just seeing the 429 responses and a cascade of errors caused by this block.
