Unable to Connect to Local Server with remote access disabled.

Hi, I have been finding that when i am watching videos i was experiencing buffering issues. I checked the settings and all looks fine, so i disabled remote access and now i am unable to access the plex server. the Phone an Tablet i use are in the same LAN, and the PC i use hosts both the server and the client.

The error i am receiving since turning off remote access:

“HTPC is unclaimed and not secure”

-Claim it Now!

“Error Claiming Server”

I have checked the Media Server and there is no unclaimed servers.

The only way i am able to watch content is with remote access enabled but is still buffers.
How can i watch the local content without it streaming externally back to my client?

Thanks

You did not only disable remote access, but did also ‘sign out’ your server from plex.tv.
This was one step too much.

Disable/Enable Remote access is under Settings - Server - Remote Access
Sign In / Sign Out is under Settings - Server - General

You need to Sign In your server again. Otherwise your devices may not be able to locate it, no matter whether they are in the local network or not.

@OttoKerner thanks. It started working, then i realised that remote access has enabled it self again. i have removed access (Settings - Server - Remote Access). But when sign out then claim the server i am unable to reach the server any more through the client after logging in. The server is appearing but it is still saying it is unclaimed. Not untill i enable the remote access can i access the server again.

Where does the message appear abotu the unclaimed server? In Plex Web?
Try this: disable remote access, but leave the server ‘signed in’. Then restart the server and wait a few minutes. Then open Plex Web again.
If the message about the unclaimed server still appears, there may be a bug or a second server on the local network. (Did you perhaps remove the server device under Settings - Devices some time previously?)

Ok i removed all of my devices including servers, logged back into the server, removed the remote access, reclaimed the server, logged back into my devices, and it seems to be fully working now without remote access.

Thanks.

Question regarding the devices registered: why are there so many duplicates of the same devices, for example Plex Web or Plex Media Player?
