I’m trying to connect my Panasonic TV to my Plex Media Server which is running on an iMac with macOS Catalina. So far I’m not succeeding and I don’t know why.
My set-up has both the TV and the iMac on the same network running on 5GHz. I’ve tried moving them both to 2.4 GHz but it makes no difference. The TV is using a fixed IP address.
From the iMac I can see the TV on the network and the Firewall is open. Plex DLNA Server.log (1.4 KB)
The TV DLNA settings recognises the MAC address of the iMac and is permitted to access that address. The TV DLNA also has permission to access locally a Denon amplifier and Sonos speaker. When I start the Media Server on the TV it displays both the Denon and Sonos but not the TV.
Using PMS version 1.18.1.2019 I have accepted the default settings as installed then I’ve:
Enabled PMS debug logging
Tried server support for IPv6 both enabled and disabled but it makes no difference.
Under ‘List of IP addresses and networks that are allowed without auth’ I’ve added the fixed ip of the TV, ie. 192.168.1.120
Under the section ‘DLNA’ - Enabled the DLNA server and Enabled DLNA server timeline reporting.
No other changes to PMS have been made.
The logs don’t mean a great deal to me but I’d really appreciate it if someone could take a look and see if there’s anything that I’ve missed.
Im having the same issue, the plex app installed on my Panasonic tv can’t connect to server tonight, worked fine last night. I can connect to the plex server from my tablet though…
Plex media server is running on a Windows machine, just had an auto update applied on it overnight
Catalina was a new installation as was Plex. The media is stored on an external drive which is on a USB connection to the iMac. So far I have only mapped one folder of media which Plex recognises as ‘/Volumes/Media 1 /Movies/0’
Plex is discovering your devices but then has intermittent connectivity along with not routing out to the internet. At least reboot the router but best would be to power everything off and do a controlled startup beginning with the modem/router, Plex server and then everything else.
Change the DNS on your TV from Auto to Manual. Add (8.8.8.8) a public DNS.
Reserve / Static the LAN IP addresses for your TV and Server in the Router, this protects those addresses from being hijacked. Restart the router and TV from power point after changes.
