This is a Plex issue, not Android Auto, as mentioned above.
Using the latest version of Plex (v7.17), Playlists, Recently Played and Recently Added do not resolve (spinning ring). Using the same version of Android Auto, but using Plex app v7.10, everything is working as expected (Playlists, Recently Played and Recently Added resolve and work normally).
Something in the v7.11 update broke integration with Android Auto, and has remained broken in future versions. Plex needs to address the incompatibility.
This is still broken and severely impacts upon my enjoyment and usage of Plex. Not a threat or ultimatum but it has made me consider cancelling my plexpass subscription as streaming music in the car was the biggest draw of using Plex for me.
Can you provide an expected timeline for a fix, or at least an update on progress/why this is taking so long to sort?
… yeah, it’s a bad experience in AA. At least it used to work kinda, now it’s annoying, and seems abandoned. Every time a new update mentions Tidal, I die a little inside.
From what I could see the update of AA is purely aesthetic (and not too successful IMHO) and in fact all the apps that had problems before have EXACTLY the same problems now.
It’s been a year since I took a head unit that works only with AA / Carplay and Plex was the key to having the streaming in the car… frankly I thought it was easier …
From the questions of @jesusmc in other threads I have the impression that in all these months he never tested the app in the car … maybe he uses Carplay? ah … would be a nice promotion for Plex
Bump. This has been an issue since AA support came out. Pretty much unusable except to pick one playlist that works.
Edit: Even a small app like Pulsar works perfectly with large playlists and large artist lists so I don’t see how it could anything but updating to a new lib then not caring about the UX and how it affects users…
