Unable to establish Direct Connection via remote access

I have been using Plex for a few years, but recently started having issues with this. About 1 month ago I moved Plex Media Server from a Windows 7 Computer to a Windows 10 computer. Ever since I haven’t been able to get a direct connection. I can connect indirectly through remote access

I have a modem from my ISP that is in Bridged mode. I have an Asus Router. I have a static IP from the ISP. I have assigned an IP Address to the computer Plex media servier is on through the router. I have enabled port forwarding in the router on port 32400. I have port forwarding working for numerous other things without issue. I had port forwarding working with Plex Media Server when it was on my Windows 7 computer. I can connect remotely if I turn off the manual option, but then I don’t have a direct connection. I have checked Windows Firewall and there are exceptions for local and internet set for 3 or 4 different Plex programs.

I’m really baffled on what I’m missing here. Why isn’t this working? What am I missing by not having a direct connection? Will streaming over the WWW still work without a direct connection? Any ideas what I should do to fix this

do you have wired and wireless on this windows 10 pc? if so have you tried disabling wireless if its on? do you have the firewall rules set to public and private? sometimes the pc will switch profiles.

if these do not fix if for you there is a thread going with much more ideas here https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/162758/windows-10-remote-access-not-working/p1

It is wired only. The firewall has both switched on.

Just after I posted this the computer asked me if I wanted to allow secure connections and I said yes and now when I look through the server list it shows remote instead of indirect. If I go into Network it shows secure connections set to disabled. It seems like this has fixed the issue, but I have no idea why or what is going on
