Unable to have 2 servers for one Plex Pass?

I tried this more than a year ago when I got my Nvidia Shield Tv. I’m going to give it on more shot. I can’t seem to add the PMS on Nvidia shield to my existing PlexPass account. Had to create a new (basic) account. My libraries had to be recreated. The Plex desktop (Chrome on Mac) would crash when I attempted to switch from one server to the other. My original library and server would disappear from the list. It was strange and frustrating.

I want to get the PlexPass features that I paid for and I’d like to get them on my device that I paid for.

Is it not pssible to have to servers on on account? Any help?

I’ve certainly run multiple plex servers on my account - mostly test ones on Windows laptops - in addition to my Linux based ones.

How do you try to add them? Do you run it up and “claim” it with your normal login via the web ?

Your servers must have different names. You can’t for example have two servers named “Plex”.

Your new/2nd server will need to be setup from scratch. It will have no libraries, no custom settings or anything. It’s a different server so you will need to set it up just like you did your first.

It’s been a while since I last attempted it. But, I do remember the “claim it” coming up and iirc, that’s where I ran into issues.

Thanks. But, I don’t recall there being an option on Nvidia Shield to rename the server. As I said, it’s been a while. The shield is a really small library (only using the onboard 500 GB), that one would be the one I’d much rather start from scratch. I’ll take another crack at it.

Typically the server name is listed on the Dashboard under Settings/General/Friendly Name

Ok thanks. I checked and the servers do have different names. The “claim it” is where I ran into the problem last time. Problem is, I don’t remember what I specifically did. I don’t know, exactly where the “claim it” option was. I just know it temporarily disappeared my main (original) library. I was able to see it again and nothing was lost. But, I fail to figure out how to have both servers, so I gave up back then. I’m going to start the shield from scratch and (attempt) to add it to my PlexPass account.

You can only view one server at a time from a single instance of the web interface. What I’m guessing happened is after you claimed the server the web page switched to the new server and you weren’t aware of that.

In the top left corner you will see your server name with a down arrow to the right of it (when you have access to more than 1 server). Click on your server name and you will be able to switch between the 2 servers after you have the server on the SHIELD setup.
