P.S. I have the Plex Server installed. The player was working just fine on my previous OS (Win11). I re-installed Win10 today and saw a new update for the Plex Media Player was available. The Plex Server is working just fine. It’s the app that won’t install. Well, it did install; it just won’t run. Thanks.
I’m not a Windows person so not the best person to ask. It’s getting late here but I see if i can find someone who knows about that DLL.
(I’m going to make this public since it is not about anything private/sensitive data.)
Alright, thanks a lot.
Funny enough I was just trying to install the Windows client as well and am encountering the same error. Searched around and couldn’t find much but glad to know it’s not just me!
Client installer: Plex-1.40.0.2816-0bc435f8-x86_64
OS: Windows 10 LTSB 10.0.14393 N/A Build 14393
I found the DLL in the server install folder and tried putting it in the client install folder. (well, it didn’t like that)

Edit: Just went and downloaded 1.38.0.2734 and it works fine.
Same deal here with the latest Plex app. Guess someone forgot a dependency when building the package
Yeah. hopefully it will be a quick fix to make a new build tomorrow when folks are online.
same issue here as well
1.40.1 has been released with a fix. If you’re stuck on 1.40.0 please download the update manually from this link.
Yay, it’s working! Thank you so much!
Hey everyone, I ran into the same problem, but in my case I was trying to install the latest version of the Plex HTPC app (1.10.0). After successfully completing the installation, the app wouldn’t run, returning an error dialog just like the OP’s:
The code execution cannot proceed because libiconv-2.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem.
I removed the installation and tried again, to no avail. I ended up uninstalling once more and picking up Version 1.9.0, and that one is running fine. I’ll hang back and see if the error returns whenever the app tries to auto-update; but for now, it seems to be working properly.
I’ve never installed this client before, I just learned of it and wanted to check it out. I’m running Windows 10 Pro 64-bit, V21H1.

EDIT: The app just auto updated to 1.10.0 and it’s running fine; I even relaunched it like three more times to be sure, and it still runs normally. Maybe @bhcompy 's suggestion is dead on?
