Plex Server Exits, Becomes Inaccessible or Won't Launc

Server Version#: 1.31.3.6819

So the last couple weeks, I’ve had problems with my Plex Server service either exiting without an error message or just stopping being visible unless I manually stop the service and restart it. I was hoping today that the new update would fix the problem. I installed the 64 bit Windows client, and get the following error message:

The code execution cannot proceed because <*.dll> was not found. Reinstalling th program may fix this problem.

The four .dll’s it gives this message for are:

soci_core.dll

soci_sqlite3.dll

opencv_core455.dll

opencv_imgproc455.dll

Reinstalling does not fix the problem. I tried manually registering them and got this message:

The module “C:\Program Files\Plex\Plex Media Server\soci_core.dll” was loaded but the entry-point DllRegisterServer was not found.

Make sure that “C:\Program Files\Plex\Plex Media Server\soci_core.dll” is a valid DLL or OCX file and then try again.

I followed these steps:

Initiate an uninstall for the Plex Media Server as normal via the Control Panel in Windows.

Delete the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Plex, Inc. registry key.

Delete the following directory:

%LOCALAPPDATA%\Plex Media Server

Reinstalled the 64-bit client and got the same error.

The latest 32-bit client is showing the same behavior as above.

If anybody knows how to resolve this issue, I’d appreciate it!!

So far, nothing I have tried has resolved this issue. Additionally, I have seen that when the server scans the library files for updates, it “hangs” at the end, never exiting the scan and will not scan and detect any new files. So far the Windows server has been virtually useless for me for the last month or so. Has anybody seen this sort of behavior? Any ideas of ways to troubleshoot the problem?

Are you saying that you are running Plex server as a Windows service?
If that is the case, you need to update the service wrapper itself, before updating plex server.
Use the 64 bit installer of Plex server. Don’t try this on Windows 7 or Windows 8.

Nothing of the above has anything to do with any sort of “client”.
