Hello,
I am having issues with two shows, Star Wars: Clone Wars (2003) and Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2005). The 2003 version has a TVDB series number of 72244, while the 2005 version has a series number of 83268. I have named the files appropriately, but cannot get them to register correctly on plex. When I try to refresh library, it only shows the later 2005 version. If I put both shows in a TV library (TV / KIDS) for instance, it will only show the 2005 version and will not even register that the two files for the 2003 version are present. If I put the 2003 version in a movie library (MOVIES / KIDS) for instance, it will show in that plex library, however cannot pull any information since it is actually a TV show, it will simply be listed as files. I tried putting the 2003 version into another TV library (TV / Mini-Series) but it will not even detect the files after multiple scans of the library as well as refreshing the metadata. Any suggestions?
I suppose those might be a little close for Plex / TheTVDb API to properly distinguish.
Official naming should look like this:
TV Shows <- the folder linked to your Plex tv show library
Star Wars Clone Wars
Season 01
Star Wars Clone Wars - s01e01 - Chapter 1.ext
Star Wars Clone Wars - s01e02.ext
...
Star Wars Clone Wars - s01e10.ext
Star Wars The Clone Wars
Season 01
Star Wars The Clone Wars - s01e01 - Ambush.ext
Star Wars The Clone Wars - s01e02.ext
...
Star Wars The Clone Wars - s01e22.ext
Just tested it myself and as expected the files are being merged inside Plex (resulting in 1 show with duplicate episode files).
Fixing this is easy:
Open the tv show library’s library view
Hover over the show poster and click the ... context menu button
Click Split
Double-Check, which of the 2 resulting show entries is which
I’m able to get them matched properly by using these names.
Please note that if you add 2 shows at once with similar names, they can get combined. PMS does this in case of typos in the names. This is only when creating the show in the first place. Once they are in the library, adding invidual episodes doesn’t run into this issue.
Here goes, finally pulled off a win, thank you everyone for your input, here is what I had to do. Rename the two volumes of the 2005 version as such: Star Wars Clone Wars (2005) S00 E01.avi and Star Wars Clone Wars (2005) S00 E01.avi Place them both into their own folder similarly labeled within the parent folder of TV/Kids. Refresh the metadata, then rescan the library. It finally polled both series as their own (the 2005 version and the 2008 version). One thing I could not figure out was why the earlier version (2005) would not poll from it’s starting/airing year which was in fact 2003. Yes, the series ended in 2005, then was started up again (kind of) under the title Star Wars The Clone Wars (2008) which matches up with its starting/airing year of 2008.
