Unable to load home or tv show recommended tab

Same problem. Homescreen only includes items from Plex Movies. I removed them and now it says “There was an error loading your home screen.”

There have been a few updates to the plex software on the shield, has this sorted it out for anyone? It hasnt for me!

My home page was fine up until 3 to 5 days ago, and now I am getting the same loading error for my home page. I can still access media from the library directly through plex, but it sucks not having the recently added recommendations and such… weird this is such an old unresolved issue.

I did just add a bunch of media, not sure if that could trigger this kind of issue.

+1 for this issue. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated Plex!

Any news on this? This has started to happen to me, rebuilt the DB no change. For me it occured when I removed my Live TV Tuner.

I am seeing error “Soci Exception handled: Cannot convert data to std::tm.” from the console.

Thanks,

I recalled having an odd issue with the TV show “The Movies That Made Us”, which wasn’t showing correctly. I removed the show and emptied the trash. This appears to have resolved my issue. I have yet to try adding that show back in!

Any news on this issue? This happened to two of my users tv shows not showing up, and now today for my Tv shows?? only recommended.

The other Day though The library wasnt working period for a user so I just created a new one(after trying ther reset home screen) and that worked so I deleted the old one

The issue occurred for me a second time on a different show. I am digging though the DB and log at the moment. My troubleshooting shows its user specific, deleting the show, trash, cleaning DB’s and bundles has no affect when the show is added back in and other users don’t have any issues.

I don’t think its related to the watch status but I get “Soci Exception handled: Cannot convert data to std::tm.” errors when clicking retry, no info is output on what attribute/record is erroring.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

I’ve worked around the issue, but I am not 100% what the issue is, I think it has something to do with the time stamps formatting on the last viewed date and time.

I nulled the values for “last_viewed_at” within table “metadata_item_settings” for all series episodes of the series with the issue on my specific user. This fixed it.

Hope this is helpful for anyone else.

Edit: Today I noticed another similar issue with view history for the same episodes, that was again showing as “something went wrong”. I found that data was missing for some records in table “metadata_item_views”. I therefore populated this missing data under “originally_available_at” and it resolved the issue.

Seriously?!? No one has a fix for this yet? I don’t even need the “recommended” tab but it’s pointless for it to even exist if it doesn’t show me anything. All other tabs on all media types show me everything. It’s JUST the recommended tab. I’m sick of seeing the “There was an unexpected error loading this library” message and no, I’m not just going to just ignore it.

Hi Willontour78,

Did you see my post above? I managed to fix it on mine. If its the same problem its relating to watched status.

I used “DB Browser for SQLite” to open my db and fix records. Usual things apply like risk, backup, etc.

Thanks,

So I have to install more software (not sure if it’s even compatible for Mac’s) to hack a problem that Plex refuses to fix?! No.

Dude, I’m only trying to help, because all I’ve seen in other posts regarding this issue to Plex Support calling it a corrupt database and follow the “Repair a Corrupt Database” guide, so try that or don’t. IMO, its not corruption, but bad or missing data. It is not a Hack, it is a fix of a database, ether fix it yourself or ask someone else to. If you would have been nice to me, I would have.

At this point it is uncertain why the problem occurs, it could be a whole host of things from bugs, updates, something from beta branch, crashes to running out of space. For all I know this cause is known and fixed.

Regarding the symptoms, you can argue they could write some code to somehow ignore it, or look into why its not converting dates. A dev may even know why and the effort of reward is unrealistic.

The problem for me is silence from Plex Support on this thread, don’t be arsie to the people trying to help, Plex Support will just tell you to delete the database and start fresh, because it’s corrupt.

Has anyone found a fix for this? I’ve had my Plex server on PC for years. I decided to run it on an Nvidia Shield Pro (2019). Spent all day yesterday trying to troubleshoot. Even resetting the Shield, starting over from scratch. But I got the same results:

On the shield and Android app, the Home tab only shows Plex media. (none of my own media).

On the my Movies, TV Shows and Photos libraries, the “Recommended” tab shows the “Error Loading Content” message. But the Library tab shows all of my media.

Interestingly, both Recommend and Library tabs work fine when accessing my Plex account from a browser at app.plex.tv

I tried creating a new user, that didn’t work.

I haven’t tried FlangeMonkey’s solution because I don’t know anything about accessing and manipulating databases.

This is a brand new install, it’s pretty frustrating to see that this issue has existed for some time now, and it’s still persisting.

Update: I just read somewhere that Plex on Nividia Shield doesn’t update automatically on its own. I went into Google Play on the Shield, found that Plex Server had an update. I performed the update and my issue has been resolved.
