Using Plex for cell phone photos and music only.
Three photo folders and one music folder are fine but the shared folder with the other user can only be viewed as static previews and will not load to Plex player.
My partner uses this folder to upload all her cell photos via Plex on Android.
Why can this folder not be viewed in the Plex player ?

Yes, the issue began after this update.
I have followed through but must have a nas configuration error.
Unsure about the new folder hiearchy recommendations.
Permissions for the two of us were set to read/write.
Plex for Synology was uninstalled/reinstalled and the nas restarted.
As administrator, I share one library folder for her to use as cell phone photo/video backup.
Both of us can no longer play her photo collection in Plex.
Stuck at this point.
Well, I could not set up a new library to work properly.
Seems odd I can see all her photos in Plex preview but not load them on the Plex player.

I have made an attempt to get it sorted.
Network admin is not a talent I possess.
In any case, this dilemma still persists.
After numerous attempts to change permissions for Plex, I finally reverted back to Synology DS Photo Station 6.
Once the photo album in question was opened up in Photo Station 6, I was able to select from Add/Share/Slideshow/More
Clicked on More > Edit Album Properties > Assign Privleges > User > plex and ticked browse/upload/manage boxes.
Now the folder is displayed in large format with Plex Player.
What a crappy way to spend precious time, good luck to all Synology nas owners.
Thanks for the tip! Your solution was the only thing that fixed my problem. I tried uninstalling Photo Station 6 and using permissions but it would not work until I reinstalled and followed your directions.
Your post was useful. My setup is probably a little different. I have a special share for curated media (ie; albums of selected photos). I was able to get Plex to see this media (not just the thumbnails), by going to: Control Panel > Shared Folder > Media (or whatever you name it) > Edit > Permissions…then check Read/Write for Plex.
