Unable to name file so Plex can show it

Server Version#: Version 4.76.1
Player Version#:

I’m ripping Space: 1999 and of course, Mac OS won’t let me use the ‘:’ and my Plex service won’t recognize the series at all. I’ve tried every way of naming it I can think of. Does anyone know the answer?

Oddly, Plex has the TV in the ‘movies and shows’ section but nothing to tell me how they named it.

It should be named like this: Space: 1999 - TheTVDB.com
Preferable: Space 1999 (1974) (folder name)

You can replace the colon with a dash and it will work just fine. In the above example the " - BLU" is my own addition that technically works but could break later. Otherwise they should be exact to the “Plex Way” of naming folders & files. The folder name in the title of the window uses the new method of including the Metadata source ID for the new Agent. Here’s the Support Article that discusses “Naming for TV Shows”

Great show! Good luck.

Thank you so much for your answer! I would have never thought of that on my own. Perfect!
