I tried to add a new show on Plex (James May: Our Man in Japan). At first, it added the show but the naming scheme was incorrect so I tried to fixed it by creating a new subfolder for each episode and now Plex doesn’t recognize the show’s folder and can’t add it to the library!
I tried reversing the changes, renaming the show, removing it from the drive and re-adding it, did the Plex Dance but it can’t add it to the library. I even gave it another show’s name in order to make it scan it…
What can I do?
Update: I had to rename all the episodes and the issue is now fixed.
Separate folders wasn’t the problem. It’s just the : semicolon can’t be used in file naming so a _ underscore was necessary to replace it. Follow my folder structure and it should be read by Plex using TVDB.
correct but even I’ve had a fair share of correct naming not work for Plex so that’s why it can be so maddening. And he just wanted to see if he was doing it wrong or if it would show up at all. Plex dance.
Note:
The ‘Natural Match’ is an elusive and quickly moving target in the Plexiverse these days. It is HIGHLY recommended one uses ‘Pristine’ naming and structuring - and even then it’s very possible Fix Match with the ID# will be needed for a high percentage of Plex Fumbles.
