unable to play live recording but can play other live only shows

i set an NFL game to record this afternoon. it started recording i could see. if i tried from my iphone app or roku app either one, to play the game that was recording i would just get spinning circle and it would never ever play it… i could then switch over to another game i “DID NOT” set to record and plex would play it live no problems. FYI also tried from 2 different PCs in web browser plex web app, same thing. web player would say after 30 secs or so "playback error unable to tune channel (time out) "

i have a beefy windows media server it has 2 cpu’s and 32gb ram. it’s only for plex and other media, nothing else was going on on the server at the time. not sure why i can’t play a recording or watch it live? sort of defeats the purpose :frowning:

any suggestions or is this a bug ? my plex server version is 1.9.6.4429

I don’t know what the issue is but this is one thing I noticed that ‘might’ help. On my fire stick, if I try to play something that is recording, the only way I can start with what had already recorded first (not at the ‘live’ point) is if I set the “Original resolution” setting in that stream. If I set it to, let’s say something lower like (4Mbps 720), it ignores what it has recorded so far as start playing back from the ‘live’ point.
