I am using Plex Media Server on a dedicated Ubuntu server machine and using an HD Home Run connect quatro to record live TV. I record a bunch of shows and most work fine. On Sunday, I usually all airings of NFL football. For some reason, these recordings fail to record almost 100% of the time.
At the start time of the program, on the recordings page the icon immediately changes to an exclamation and says that the recording failed to start. If I cancel the recording and reschedule it, the same thing happens. If I try to tune the channel using plex web, the android app, or the android tv app, it usually fails to tune the channel. If I force close the android TV app (note that this only works on the android tv app and not the android app or web) restart it, and try to tune the channel, it immediately succeeds to play. I can then stop watching and the recording gets rescheduled automatically and works fine.
I have no idea why this happens, but it happens very consistently and it is very frustrating to not have the recordings start reliably. I know it’s not a TV signal issue because once it is playing, the program comes through perfectly.
I’ve attached debug logs for a recent failure of Sunday Night Football that was meant to start recording on 12/2 at 8:20pm. You can see in the logs the recording failures, but then by the method mentioned above, I was able to get a recording.
Any help on this is very much appreciated. I am happy to provide more debugging information if needed.
