Unable to play media

Player Version#:10.29.0.135

So we have a fire stick 4k max and fire tv cube(2nd gen)
I have a profile for me (main) and one for the wife she has access to the same libraries as me, however from time to time she will get the message Unable to play media, if we switch to my profile the file in question plays, ive tried everything i can think of, any help appreciated.

One of the most common things coming to mind – can you compare the player quality settings on her account vs. yours? Sounds like there might be an issue with her settings triggering your server to transcode and that causing some trouble.

Ive copied the settings from my profile to hers by making a list and setting hers the same, ive tried giving permissions again to the library, i have turned transcoding off, direct play on/off etc, i must be missing something just cant think what

If you’ve copied over movie files onto the plex server, the folder and/or movie file may not have the right directory permissions and/or file permisions for plex to use.
If you do a listing of the movies folder, you should see the directory permissions:

myplexserver:~/movies$ ls -l
drwxr-xr-x    ...  ...  'folder of X movie'

If you do a listing of that movie folder, you should see the file permissions:

myplexserver~/movies/'X movie'$ ls -l
-rw-r--r--   ...   ... ...   X_movie.mkv

If the directory permissions and/or file permissions do not have at least these permissions, that may be why you’re locked out.
