Player Version#:8.8
Strange situation I am in. I can play anything over my LAN WIFI, but soon as I switch to cellular data I get “Something went wrong playing your media. Please try again. Could not direct play because: Not enough bandwith for direct play of this item. Required bandwidth 10030kbps and 1500kbps is available. Could not transcode because: Not enough CPU for conversion of this item.”
My NAS is Synology 918+ and everything worked perfectly fine until my buddy from Ireland let me know that he cannot stream from me anymore due to error “Unable to play media”. So I checked of course PLEX over cellular data and that is when I got the error above. I tried uninstall the server version from NAS, reinstalling, same with the PLEX iOS app on my iPhone 11 Pro, tested various adjustments, nothing helped. I am stuck at the end of my road and cannot find anything online for this particular issue. If anyone, by any chance experience/d similar issue, please do share the fix. Because I have no clue what it may cause it.
Also, tried to troubleshoot with another friend from Croatia, and strange enough, he CAN stream video from my NAS PLEX, so I am really baffled, Ireland cannot, and I cannot as well over cellular data.
Thank you guys for your time reading this.
This can be closed, I have resolved the issue. Thank you
Was it an issue with a Plex setting or similar, or was it an issue unique to your set up. if it was something you needed to change in Plex it would help others who might run into same issue.
Hi!
I completely misread the option “Disable video stream transcoding”. I’ve had that checked, thus the fact the video was not getting transcoded, that was what was throwing the error over cellular data streaming “not enough bandwidth”. After I unchecked the option, I was able to stream over data. I would include screenshot, but I do not see the option to attach it here.
