I’ve scanned through the forums and found numerous (see below), ignored and closed, posts over the last few years, on this very subject. With all the holiday promotions from Tidal and Plex, currently running, one would hope that the good folks at Plex would iron this out sooner than later.
My use case is that I want to play Tidal tracks on my lounge media box without turning the screen on, using my phone. Currently this is not possible using Plex because it throws up the “This content is not currently supported on a remote player” restriction when attempting to play Tidal music with a remote player selected.
Is there any chance of this changing in the future? It’s basically the only reason I would want to use Plex. My guess is that this restriction is required by Tidal rather tha…
Hi There,
I got plex set up yesterday on my raspberry pi 4. the Pi 4 is the server and the player via the web app. I have been able to select my local library on plexamp for android and choose to have it output to the chrome plex webpage on the pi with no issues. For a short time I was also able to choose the chrome plex webpage to be the output stage for tidal streams via the plexamp app. late last night plexamp couldn’t connect to the chrome web page for tidal streams only.
After hooking up …
I cannot use either my android or apple phone to remote control my Tidal subscription on Chrome Web or Plex for Windows. If I save the album or song (not possible with Playlists) to my music folder then I can use my phone as a remote.

Will this be fixed in the future?
Trying to play Tidal tracks on Win PC (Plex) while being conencted from Android tablet result in getting
“Playing this content is not currently supported when connected to a remote player” error.
Basically all I need here is a android-tablet-remote to control the playback on my PC.
I saw this topic being raised and closed several times, but looks like there is still no such a feature?..
The funniest thing about this “under construction” part is, when the Tidal playlist is already playing on …
Tidal now doesn’t want to play when accessing from the local browser to a desk top, it works okay when accessing from online web access (via Plex WS).
Is this the DRM problem we keep running up against? The browser is chrome.
Server Version#:4.14.2
Player Version#: Latest IOS apps
Configuration: Plex IOS connected to a DAC (Chord Hugo2), acting as my preamp, which is connected to my stereo amplifier.
For the last year I have been using this setup to drive my main stereo using the Plex’s Remote Player functionality using my Flac, MP3s, and apple-lossless files.
Today I added Tidal to my Plex Pass and I am not able to use the Remote Player functionality with any of the Tidal content, I am still able to use it with …
It is absolutely ridiculous that we can’t fling a Tidal stream to another device. Tidal allows it on their platform, Spotify allows it also. Why can’t we do it through Plex? Fix it.
