I am having an issue with this error as well. Running Server version 1.10.0.4523 on scheduled recordings. It is generating short files, if it records at all.
See earlier posts on log files, eg
Restart the server to get fresh log files
Reproduce the problem
Note down time and details of what failed
Collect the logs and upload with the details
Same here, See attached log. The 12/19/17 18:00 mark is an issue that I am having as described above.
Iām having this issue with regularity as well and Iām running the windows release from yesterday. In think itās more prevalent when there are back to back recordings, the second recording is the one that fails. Is it possible that because Iām removing commercials itās locking up the tuner and the second recording fails? I have the HDHOMERUN Quad Connect so available tuners isnāt an issue, I had 3 available.
Same here, running 1.11.0.4666. Cannot get it to record a thing. Very disappointed. The live tv works OK but kodi is significantly clearer running. They have a long way to go on this functionality before it is usable as far as i can tell. Not u=sure if there are any developments yet this year. I would love to be able to just use Plex for everything.

I have been looking at the logs and what I can see is errors when trying to get the status from the usb connected dvr

I will discuss with the devs - but it looks some issue with the usb connection
Is the user account the Plex Media Server runs in an admin account? It should not be necessary - but just in case it has a bearing

Further to my earlier reply, could you tell me what make / model the DVR is and also confirm that it works on the usb through other software.
It was not clear if you were saying livetv via plex was working but recording was not - you mentioned kodi so I was not sure exactly what you were saying
So at the time when we get this usb error on recording, does livetv work on plex ? Could you try both after a reboot and note down time when each was tried and attach logs zip
Also after the failure, can you confirm that it works through other software in that usb connection - also is it possible to try it with other tuner software
I was getting some random issues where a show would record but would then throw out this error

I too am having the same issues. Currently on Version 1.11.0.4666 but have been experiencing frequent recording issues on recent releases. Getting to the point PLEX DVR is too unreliable to be a daily driver and I have had to resort to using other DVR software packages to ensure I get good recordings of problematic shows. Really hope this gets sorted out soon as I like PLEX being the center of ALL my media needs.
Add my name to the list of folks getting the transcoding error message. I, too, like Plex quite a bit, but I would like to be able to use the DVR function.
OK. I got it to record. āFrom Here to Eternity,ā which totally rocks. I clicked on the Plex Media Server icon. Who knows if that reset the thing or not, but now it works. My guess? It will probably stop working again. But I am experimenting with it to see if I can get it to continue working.
I have the same problem āThere was a transcoder errorā on every record. My tuner is a HDHomeRun, 4 tuners and I use Plex server version 1.12.3.4973. I have this problem since one of the latest updates. Before, it was working.

Does this only arise when attempting to stream Live TV whilst a recording is going on the same channel ? What Plex client app is being used ? It is IP 10.3.2.55
I seem to have hit the same issue with the āDVR asked to stop recordingā Iām on the latest Plex versionā¦ Iām not sure if it was a CPU overload or what the issue could have been but me and the wife were watching a Plex recorded show and my wifeās parents were streaming another show at the same time this show was recording from the HDHomeRun Prime. Nobody was watching live tv when this happened so the only tuner being used was the one Plex was using to record until it failed ~30 minutes into it.

It happens if I try to watch live TV, record live tv, or record and watch the same show. Basically, any time that I try to watch TV, it does that. It also does that if I try to play an mkv file as well.
The client was the built-in web application on the server. I was using Firefox.

There was a tuner stream capture error just before that

Could be signal issue / tuner issue.
I will try and find out if you can get more info about the error with extra transcoder logging - assuming it happens again
It happened again last nightā¦ this time while recording āOnce Upon a Timeā - The recording stopped after about a minute into the show. Nobody was watching anything on Plex or using the HDHomeRun at the time as we were out with her parents.

Edit and removed my logs: Weāve gone ahead and started to use WMC to record things until this clears up. We had a few more shows that cut off tonightā¦ Keep up the good work though! We canāt wait to see the better guide for Plex.
