Enabling Remote access

Troubleshooting Remote access

Does canyouseeme.org see you at port 32400?
If not, you need to ensure proper router config has that port open and pointing to your server.

Dis a quick check of your external IP address (according to your logs).

Closed Port 32400 is closed on -what the logs say your external IP is-

You need to configure your router for port forwarding.

I have enabled port forwarding and no mater what canyouseeme.org never says the port is open. Just seems not right when I can use the QNAP app that lets me remote into the QNAP itself and I can but Plex will not stay connected to the outside.

I have an ARRIS Surfboard cable modem with port forwarding enabled and I have even tried turning the firewarll feature off as a test but Plex has never stayed connected for more than a few minutes. If I add the mac forward it seems to make everything else on my QNAP stop working.

this is my port forward setup

why will this not connect

It looks like you have 50000 ports forwarded to your QNAP, if and only if 192.168.0.210 is your QNAP.
You’d need one port open for the Qnap remote (https? 443)
and one open for Plex, port 32400/32400
Then just to make sure, in plex settings, enable the ‘manual port’ checkbox and type in 32400.

Do you have any other router/firewall between your QNAP and that SBG6782-ac device?

I believe there is something going on with QNAP and Plex, but I have not tracked it down. I have 2 Plex servers running on my network, a QNAP setup and a Windows setup. I have QNAP plex setup to use the default port 32400 for remote access. I have Windows setup to use port 32401.

I have the exact same setup for my firewall rules both the QNAP and Windows. My Windows remote access works great. My QNAP doesn’t work. I did get a connection briefly to my QNAP Plex through Plex.TV from a remote location, but it said the connection was “indirect” when the Windows Plex looked correct. After about 3 minutes, I lost the QNAP Plex connection (without making any network changes) and have never gotten it back.

I cloned my successful Windows Plex firewall rule, changing the designation internal IP and port number, and it still doesn’t work. I have 3 other port forwards pointing to my QNAP and they work successfully 100% of the time, so the issue only is affecting Plex.
