At some point in the distant past, I renamed my guest account “Kids” (don’t remember how). Not long after that, I ended up setting up individual profiles for them and disabling the guest account. We’re planning on having a sitter come in, so I just re-enabled it to see “Kids” pop up. Now I can’t find where to rename the account back to Guest or anything else. I’ve looked in the same places that you can change names on the other managed users with no success. Was this a privelage that was removed at some point in the last couple years? Can anyone point me in the right direction on this one?
Are we talking about a managed user “kids” or the actual guest account?
It’s the system based guest account (not a managed user), but the name has been changed, and I can’t find a way to fix it. It appears/disappears when the enable/disable guest account button is pressed.
Sorry… I’m not aware of an official configuration to change the guest account’s name. The only option coming to mind would be to actually do that within the Plex database – though I’m not sure the guest account is represented as an actual account (given it has no watch history etc.).
Renaming the guest account was possible at one point, but that has been prevented since quite a while.
I will forward this request to have your guest account renamed back, if possible.
That’s an interesting thing to remove. I have renamed mine, and would like the ability to edit that if I ever wanted to.
It’s been done now.
You might want to shut down and restart your Plex clients, or perform a fast user switching back and forth to force them to update the user list.

Same here. My preference would be to change it to Babysitter/etc, but I can work with Guest if it’s supposed to be hard-coded for some reason on the back-end.

I’m having the same problem, some time ago I left my sister as a guest so she can see the plex and now I can’t change the Guest name.
