Unable to schedule a recording

I have xTeve all setup and everything works fine for live viewing. I have all guide data and custom logos setup and very happy with how things are setup.

Problem: on 99% of channels, if I try to schedule it to record I just get “There was an unexpected error”. I have a channel that allowed the record last night and just tested it and seems it recorded fine. I just can’t schedule new recordings.

Troubleshooting done: I have of course rebooted the server, I have removed the tuner and re-added. Everything still works fine and then just cant schedule. I have also build 3 new libraries for Movies, TV Shows and Other Videos, incase a show could only record to a specific type of library.

Curious if anyone else has had this issue, as i was unable to find anything more specific to this issue. Most of the issues for an unexpected error seems to be with the tuner itself, but that is not my issue.

Any help or thoughts would be nice. Just trying to pick some other brains.

All on windows 10, as a standalone server in my house.
xTeve version 2.5.

Ended up finding some other have rolled back server versions as it fixed other issues. I will try this out this weekend when I have time.

Thanks for reporting the problem

Have you established which version of Plex Media Server this regression came in ?

Could you get me:

  • debug server logs for scheduling a recording using the version that is working, and
  • then updating to the current beta and scheduling another recording and getting the error and capturing the server logs again after the error.
  • Also please could you provide me with the xmltv file that can be used to repro the issue, and
  • zip of the 3 EPG db files - in the app data in Databases folder- the filenames will start with name “tv.plex.”

I also had this issue on 1.32.6.7371 (Windows server). Nothing would record in the future. Rolling back to 1.32.5 fixed it. I didn’t run it long enough to get logs.

We have identified an issue with the beta release affecting scheduling of recordings when xmltv is in use. A fix is being produced

There is also an issue with playback on the android/firetv clients being unable to play channels on the latest public beta version of the server software. Both these issues can be resolved by rolling back to the previous release of the server software. If you need any logs I am running two plex servers on Windows 2022 server. One is the latest beta and the other is the previous release. Both issues only occur on the latest public beta

We have a regression on Android for tuning channels that have space characters in the channel identifier for an xmltv setup - seen on Vbox with iptv setup

New update been released for public beta V1.32.6.7468 and seems to fix the recording schedule issues. Also seems to fix the android plex app playback of live tv channels
