Scheduling recording on Android TV fails "An error has occurred"

Unable to schedule recording in TV guide with a brief error on screen “An error has occurred,”

This issue doesn’t appear to be specific to any channel or program and only occurs on Android TV. Tested with a 2017 and 2020 SHIELD.

Selecting the same show on the same channel to record works fine on PLEX app on Mac.

I think there is a bug in the guide data for the Android TV app and their guide data provider, I had the same issue. I had a Schedules Direct account already so I switched to using them and no longer have that issue. I think the issue is that the scheduled time for the show you are trying to record is incorrect. After I switched the guide data, the show I was trying to record was now 2 hours later.

thanks for the response that would explain it except I was under the impression it works like this:

  1. My Plex Server pulls guide data from Plex Servers
  2. My Plex Clients pull guide data from My Plex Server

Yes that is correct, but Plex also allows you to use XMLTV guide data instead.
