Unable to setup server/add libraries!

I recently re-installed windows 7 on the desktop computer that hosts my Plex server.  I had no problems with this set up just a month ago.

I downloaded plex media server for Windows (version: 0.9.11.4.739-a4e7) and installed it with no problems.  It is up and running on my desktop computer and there don't appear to be any other issues.  The plex icon is in the system tray.  When I right click on the icon and click on "Media Manager" the plex web app opens.  I sign into my plex pass account and am able to see all of the servers that are shared with me but I cannot see a way to add my server.

When I click on the settings icon in the top right corner, I cannot see a "Servers" tab with which to add libraries to my server.  I was told that I should access the web app "locally" according to the instructions on the forums/plex website.  I have tried all of those ways, including via the ip address, and nothing works.

I have already uninstalled and re-installed the server once with no success.  How do I add my server?

Have you tried Settings>Server>Connect? That's where you would sign in to plex.tv, and connect it so that devices outside the LAN can see it.

But, if your problem is simply setting up your libraries, you may be looking in the wrong places ... Here's how to add libraries ... and here's some good stuff to read on PMS.

Sign out of plex from the icon in the top right.  Now see if there is a server tab.  Set it up, connect it to plex.tv, then sign in.

Re Mediaconoclast: There is no server tab under the settings menu.

Re MovieFan: When I sign out, the page just changes to a sign in page with no other options.  When I sign back in, nothing has changed.

This is a new one .

Are we talking about a server without anything in the library yet? Are you able to add libraries from the Home page, as described in the "add libraries" link above?

just to be clear when you open it via the task tray item it is opening up 127.0.0.1:32400/web correct?  There was another user with this same problem i think and they had to reinstall the server, but you already did that. might want to try a complete uninstall if you have not

they suspected some sort of router issue but it should have been using 127.0.0.1 so i personally don't think it was a router problem

here is a link to that thread https://forums.plex.tv/topic/128741-cant-find-server-and-no-option-to-add-server/?hl=%2Badd+%2Bserver

Re MovieFan: When I sign out, the page just changes to a sign in page with no other options.  When I sign back in, nothing has changed.

Is it possible you initially signup up your sever under a different username?  You might need to edit the registry and remove your account info in there.

Ahhh you know I am having issues getting my own server set back up on my Plex as well…on my desktop…and thats probably precisely what is wrong… as I did change out emails… I bet thats exactly what is wrong… So will we need to completely uninstall all Plex applications as well as go into registery and edit and remove prior to reloading ? I think I have that correct?

You don’t need to uninstall PMS. Just editing the registry would be enough.

Wonderful that is such greart news… can you perhaps instruct me on where to do this and which files to do it under? I am REALLY excited about using Plex now that I better understand it… I never should have installed all that so early on without a better understanding at the time on what it all does… I mean I had just purchased a NVIDIA Shield and was ready to go…and I should have waited… I really want you to know I really appreciate this…
