I have an issue with the last Plex version.
I use to sync Media content on my tablet and it works fine.
Unfortunately it’s not possible anymore to cast that synced content to Chromecast…
I got a black screen…
On the iPad it starts then stops immediately while the chromecast goes blank. I then hit play on the iPad again and it sits there trying to play but nothing happens. It almost seems like it’s trying to play from the server and not the synced file. Plex on the iPad is shown as online. I can’t go “offline” as I would need the wifi to cast.

iPad 6th Gen Wifi model with iPadOS 13.3.
Plex app version 6.6
Chromecast 3rd Gen 1.42.172094
Devices on a wifi running on the 5ghz band with a signal strength of 467Mbps. So there is plenty of wifi bandwidth.
Same issue with Samsung Galaxy S8. I can play the synced content on the phone, but when casting to Chromecast, the TV will show as if it’s starting the playback but then a blank screen. Same content works on same Chromecast when playing the PMS version (not the synced one)
When I enable “advertise as server” on my phone for other devices to discover its synced media, the other device (android tablet) can see the synced library, but can’t play media. Seems the “server” function of Plex app is broken in some way.
What’s the proper way to report a problem? Should we just post it here like we did it above in the forum and wait, hope that a Plex developer is reading it?

Me too! Problems on both Android and iOS apps when trying to cast to Chromecast. Thought about upgrading to Roku just to avoid the hassle. What a mess Content loads fine on Android and iOS devices, but as soon as I try to send to Chromecast - nothing!
I am going to say that something changed with Chromecast firmware some time in November that has caused a compatibility problem with Plex casting sync’d content. I have tried all versions back to 7.20.00 9/Aug 2019 (when I am positive it was working) and the same blank grey screen appears. Cannot test any version prior to that because the app < v7.20 simply crashes on Android 9 (Lineageos 16) when trying to cast syn’d content.
Quite disappointing because I am stuck self isolating away from home because of corona and I would really like to watch some videos stored on my phone.
Would be nice to see @Plex 1:acknowledging the issue as it’s a pain for a lot of users, and 2:start dealing with it, as sync is part of the PlexPass features and was a major one for me when I decided to go with Lifetime subscription.
Was working and it’s broken for quite some time now…
