Hi there, I dont know why, my plex server is unable to send more than 50mb/s and 4k films are above that bitrate…
how can I fix it?
I’ve try the NIC by itself and it’s a gigabit and can assume 1000mb/s without any issue…
My system is:
windows 10
32gb ram ddr4 3200mhz
ssd 512GB m2 nvme 2200mb/s r/w
3ts storage up to 150mb/s r/w
LG TV with plex app, 10/100 tested speed 100mb/s
Thank you so much!
This screen is trying to stream an 73mb/s bitrate film…
I also have this issue with my Intel NUC running Plex Server, my Samsung KS7000 as the Plex client, and 4K films above a certain bitrate. Everything is 1Gbit until it reaches the TV which I suspect is a 100Mbs.
I’ve tested videos with bitrates (video stream only) of 50Mb/s, 45Mb/s, 49.2Mb/s and 44.3Mb/s and these play fine. A couple that I have with bitrates into the 60Mb/s range buffer.
Everything is DirectPlay so there’s no transcoding going on.
I just wanted to reply back to say I solved my problem by switching the TV to use my wireless connection. I can now DirectPlay 4K HEVC without any buffering/stuttering. I’ve tested files upto 75Mbps.
The Plex server has a 1Gbit nic, going through a 1Gbit switch, into my router. The router is 60cm from the TV. I thought that fully cabled would be the optimum scenario but apparently not.
I’m DirectPlaying and can confirm it’s doing that. I’ve just tried another test with a 72Mbps video over wired and it started buffering at 1 min 2 seconds. Switched to wireless and it’s still smooth after 5 minutes.
It’s not all that bizarre - the TV is 802.11ac which in real world terms can achieve better throughput than a 10/100Mb network card. My TV is 60cm from the router so it’s quite optimised / there’s no serious interference.
My 2013 macbook air (also wireless a/c) which is with me now, about 180cm from the router can do the full speed of my internet connection on speedtest.net - that’s 200Mbps. There have been tests showing it can do 500Mbps.
