Unable to update metadata on albums

Hi There -

I’m having trouble updating metadata on albums from my Plex on Synology. When I type in a new artist and hit save, it will spin the album and revert right back to ‘Various Artists’ (or whatever the original was). I don’t have this issue on Plex running from my PC.

Any ideas?

Sure - sorry if I wasn’t clear. Plex on my Synology will mark some music albums as ‘Various Artists’ which isn’t correct. I want to change it to the correct artist name, set the album cover, etc. My steps are:

  1. Click on the ‘pencil’ icon when I hover over the album
  2. I type in the correct artist name in the artist field
  3. I press ‘save’ in the modal dialog
  4. The album has a tag icon and does an animation to let you know it’s updating
  5. After updating, it reverts back to ‘Various Artists’ (it doesn’t take my update)

I can do the same steps on Plex on my Windows server and it will allow me to change the artist, image, etc.

My music is organized as you have it listed. I’m looking for ‘Album Artist’, but it’s not displayed. I have:

  • Artist
  • Album
  • Sort Album

If I look in the ‘Tags’ section, I only have:

  • Genres
  • Collections

Where can I find Album Artist?
