Unable to watch a show that is recording from the current time with the new app

If I am recording a show and also watching it live, the old app would ask if you wanted to start it from the beginning or live. With the new app it only starts from the beginning. It also isn’t possible to fast forward to the current time quickly because it shows that it is current.

This has made trying to watch e.g. the last period of a hockey game (~2.5hrs) that is in progress practically impossible on the mobile app as you have to fast forward a minute or two at a time.

Still an issue with 2025.16.0, I had to switch to the web app in order to watch a show live last night.
I tried to fast forward to the current time and the app just hung for >30 mins and never played anything.

Is this a new failure for you, because I think what you’re seeing has been an ongoing issue for a LONG time with no acknowledgement or resolution from the plex team unfortunately. I hope you have better luck than we all did, but I’m not optimistic. Here’s a link to another thread that may be either related to or exactly your issue. Impossible to watch while recording?

Hey @goellnjh no it is not a new feature it is present in the current web and roku apps and the previous mobile apps.

If you start to watch a show that is currently recording it gives you the option of starting when the show began recording, or from the current live time.

In the “new experience” it just starts playing from the beginning of the recording and it is essentially impossible to fast forward to the current time without hanging.
