Unable to watch content despite having an active Plex Pass subscription

I am experiencing an issue with my Plex Pass subscription.

The subscription appears to be active on my account, and I have already received confirmation of the payment. However, I am unable to watch any movies or access content as expected.

Whenever I try to play a movie, it does not work, even though my account shows that Plex Pass is active.

I am not sure if this is a technical issue, a region restriction, or something related to my account setup.

I have already tried basic troubleshooting steps such as:

Logging out and logging back in
Restarting the app
Checking my internet connection

The issue is still ongoing.

Please help me understand why I cannot watch content despite having an active subscription, and guide me on how to fix this problem.

I presume you have a Plex server set up? Content is on it?

Are you trying to view Plex from a laptop? A Fire stick? A phone?

I don’t have a Plex server and I don’t have my own content.

I was trying to watch movies directly on Plex, and I thought Plex Pass allows that.

I am using Plex on my PC.

Please let me know how I can watch movies on Plex, and if I need to set up something else.

You don’t need a Plex Pass for that.

Here is an example from my laptop. Bring up my browser and go to https://watch.plex.tv

Now I could click on Live TV or On Demand, I’ve clicked On Demand. You can also search for specific movies or shows. If P.lex has it, then you can watch from Plex. If Plex doesn’t, they will try to tell you if your search can be viewed on another streaming service.

Most people don’t want to just watch on a laptop, so you’ll most likely want to install the Plex app either on your smart TV or streaming device. Once installed, log into the app with your Plex account. Are you able to do that?

I tried going to https://watch.plex.tv and accessed the On Demand section, but I am still unable to watch any movies.

Yes, I can log in to my Plex account without any problem on my PC.

I do not have a Plex server and I do not have my own content. I was expecting to watch movies directly on Plex after subscribing to Plex Pass.

Right now, I can log in normally, but when I try to watch movies (On Demand or any content), it does not work for me.

So my main issue is that I cannot watch any content at all, even the free movies available on Plex.

That is odd. I just tried play Ex Machina and it plays. This is on a Win 11 laptop with the Vivaldi browser.

Have you tried other browsers? Maybe it is some like an ad-blocker? Virus blocker? I’m trying to think of potential problems. Do you get any type of error msg or pop up when you click on a movie?

When I try to play any movie, nothing happens. There is no error message and no pop-up. The video just does not start at all.

I already showed this issue before (I shared a picture ), and it is still the same.

I have not tried other browsers yet, but I will try that and see if it makes any difference.

Well, you can see from that particular movie, that it is not available to stream. I looked on JustWatch.com and they don’t list it as available to stream from anywhere either.

I understand what you mean about that specific movie not being available.

However, my issue is not related to one movie.

The problem is that I cannot play any movie at all. I tried different movies from the On Demand section, and none of them work for me.

When I click play, nothing happens. No error message, no loading, just no response.

So the issue is that Plex is not playing any content at all on my side.

Ok, I was going to suggest getting the logs for app.plex.tv. Looks like you need to open “Developers Tools, click on “Console” and look for errors there.

Have you tried the Plezy app? This might help narrow down where the problem is with Plex, the pc, your network.. Definitely something odd is going on. Plezy is free to download on Windows.

I’m not very familiar with developer tools, so I was not able to check the console.

I will try using a different browser and also try the Plezy app on Windows to see if it works there.

But for now, the issue is still the same: I cannot play any content at all, and nothing happens when I click play.

At least on my browser, I clicked the main browser tab. The one that usually has stuff like “Settings”, “Exit” & so on. I selected “Tools”→”Toggle Developer Tools”. That brings up another pane, and then I clicked on Console. Most browsers have something similar for people writing web pages or extensions.

@fd7maid what browsers have you tried? What region are you in? Do you have any browser extension enabled?

In the Settings select Show Advanced then navigate to Debug then select Restore Defaults. See if that works.
