Unexpected change of user interface in player

I’m asking this because I’m a developer, and this is one of the no-no’s.
You just did what Microsoft did when going from 2003 to 2007.
The most annoying change is of course the moving of the close icon from the bottom right to the top, but really, the whole player window has changed, and why??
This looks like a change that some developer got through because he’s married to the company boss.
Please don’t push these changes out to the public calling it “an update to the web player”, that’s just crap.
If you want to publish an update to the web player, you ask the members, don’t just hide it like you are afraid someone won’t like it.
You are closer to pushing me over to other open source solutions.

I’ll post another thought to this “thread”, if it’s ever going to be a thread…

I loved my Plex server, I really could enjoy playing videos from it, you destroyed that.
Now I’m forced to play all of my media clips through VLC, because some over eager developers felt that they should decide how I want my media presented.
You focus way too much om rapid change to catch new customers.
Oh yes, you might capture some, but there are A LOT of us out there whitch is ENRAGED of how you raped the theme. Well, that said, you didn’t even let us choose a theme. Just forced it upon us.
Even within your forums, you maintain some way for us to select the way things are presented. So why stuff it down our throats without choice when it comes to the media library and player.

What ever corporate ssole convinced you to hire scriptkiddies without taste to design our desktops.
It’s OUR desktops. You don’t own it, you just rent a space in it, and when we stop the payments, well, you’re in reality just dead in the water.

Edit: Guess who’s searching google for “plex alternative” just now. It’s not just me…

Amen - and again - Amen.

Many are finding Emby a viable alternative.

Seriously? You don’t own Plex; you have a license to use it. You don’t own Windows or what ever desktop environment you’re using; you have a license to use it. That is why game developers can ban players from online play when they are caught cheating. The cheaters loose the ability to play online due to the Terms of Service and End User **LICENSE **Agreement.

The point that I don’t own the product, does not mean that I can’t complain about how it works for me.
Also, I can’t see the connection between gamers cheating and plex users not liking how the software works.
I have not violated the license, I just don’t like the way the software is developed. It’s a difference.
