Thought this might be related to a corrupt file(s), but the files are fine. Web player randomly gives this error during playback via remote access.
Have had the same issue on 3 different Windows PCs (10 and 11) since upgrading to 1.87.2.87-87488d5a. I have two media servers running 1.40.0.7998, one Synology and one Win10, and get the error using either server. Also just had it watching a PLEX steaming movie.

I have the same issue. Downloaded and installed today. Played three videos, 1x TS, 2x MP4, all played fine initially, it interrupted between 7 and 12 minutes then reported the above depicted “Playback error” as reported by Chrisauito, Chriscarpenter12, laplonge, and MikeMoutopoulos. I checked the files with VLC with no issues. I restarted server and compiled the below logs. I have not attempted to play on any of my TV’s or phones since I upgraded.

Playback error so far only on Windows client, that started when I updated the plex server to this version. It is not file type dependent, the error appears on playback of any file type. My NVIDIA Shield is playing well. I will test the LG TV app next and report back.
