Universal delete in prefs

Set a universal elapsed time to delete watched media. For instance, I currently have to remember to set each new TV Series to delete a week after having been watched. It would be great if I could set this universally.

Just for reference / clarification:
You’re suggesting to have a library or server-wide option to set the default Keep and/or Delete episodes after playing preference for your media?

Hi Tom

Yes. It would be good if I could just place a TV Series folder into my Plex media folders and know that when it has been watched it will be deleted automatically at a later date. I ask for this because I have to edit each new TV Series and change the delete option from Never to One Week. I’d like to see this set at the server preferences level if possible.

You could create a smart collection which contains all episodes which have a play count greater than zero:

Then, periodically view that collection, select all the episodes (shift-click the first and the last), and then delete them. It’s not an automated deletion, but it does automate gathering all the viewed episodes in one place for easy manual deletion. Plus it affords you the opportunity to reconsider whether or not you really want to delete a particular item.

It’s a clever solution, but it just exchanges a task I currently do (Mark for deletion after a week) for a different one. I want something I can set and forget.
Thanks, anyway.
