Unknown Error displayed when trying to log into Plexamp

Fresh install of Plexamp and getting this behavior on both my Mac and PC so I assume it is network-related. Regardless of whether I fill in credentials or try to sign in with browser, upon clicking to confirm I get a red bar across the top of the window that says, “Unkown Error”

I’ve attached the logs from my PC

Thanks!

Looks like a DNS issue:

Dec 27, 2022 19:56:16.061 [0x000022a4] DEBUG - Networking: Completed request 6: (GET https://pubsub.plex.tv/sub/eventsource/null/null?X-Plex-Token=<token>) with code -6 (have 0 bytes) in 11 ms.

The -6 there is CURLE_COULDNT_RESOLVE_HOST.

So I’m using Pi-Hole to provide DNS for the segment of my network on which I’m trying to run Plexamp. Based on my (somewhat limited) testing, Pi-hole will not properly process requests for any .tv subdomains while DNSSEC is enabled. Turning it off fixed the issue and I think I can live without DNSSEC for the time being

Appreciate you taking the time to look at this!

Also, I would like to thank you for doing such a great job with Plex. I’ve been using it since the XBMC fork and I’m struggling to put into words just how much value it has added to my digital life. I even considered applying for the DevOps position that was posted a few months back, and I am thrilled with the job I have now! The chance to work on what is easily one of my top five favorite pieces of software was very tempting :slightly_smiling_face:

Anyway, keep up the great work and I will continue to be a proud and satisfied customer.

Glad you figured it out, and thank you so much for the kind words, they mean a lot.

Pi-hole is also applying “DNS rebinding protection”. You need to exempt the domain plex.direct from this protection.
