running into something strange this evening. i currently have 4 users streaming, 2 local, 2 remote. 1 direct, 3 xcodes.
when i look at resource monitor network usage for plex media server.exe, which i do several times a day to make sure users aren’t streaming above what i’ve asked them to do, i see something odd. there is significant traffic to an unknown IP.
When i trace the IP it is on the same ISP (comcast) as my 1 remote direct play viewer( #sigh, how hard is it to disable direct play on your darn player people!), his ip is ##7.##4.53.103, i see this in plexpy. The unknown IP and 350KBps of traffic is ##7.##4.157.40, same first 2 octets, same ips, identical traceroutes. This remote viewer only has a single stream active according to both plex web and plexpy. the other vierwers are either local ip’s or another remote ip that I associate with that particular other user and have seen many times before for them.
So my question is, who the heck is this #.#.157.40? and why doesn’t it show a user associated with it in plex web or in plexpy?
I have screencaps of all this i’ll modify to protect the ips and attach in a few minutes.
