Unknown security certificate issue

Server Version#: 1.18.7.2457
Player Version#: 7.28.0.15501

When a user attempts to use the Plex Android app to connect to a Chromecast, the connection will appear to be successful, but it will not display the synopsis you would normally see when you open an episode or movie in the app (the screen that shows a short summary, thumbnail, runtime etc.). Instead, the Chromecast will simply display the ‘Ready to cast’ message. When the user attempts to play the file, the Chromecast will immediately show a ‘Sorry, something went wrong’ message and the file will not be played.

When this happens, the logs will always show the following:

CERT: incomplete TLS handshake: sslv3 alert certificate unknown

This only happens when trying to cast from the Plex Android app to a Chromecast. Casting from Plex Web from the same device works without any issue. Any other scenario also works without issue.
It doesn’t happen all the time either - when connecting the Plex Android app to a Chromecast, about half the time it will work without issue, and the other half it will refuse to play and show this ‘certificate unknown’ error in the logs.
Clearing the cache and/or app data of the Android app will sometimes resolve the issue, but not always, and the issue will always reappear eventually.

If anybody has any idea what could be causing this, I would very much appreciate the help. Clearly it’s some sort of certificate issue, but I have no idea why it only happens specifically when connecting the app to a Chromecast, and why it only happens some of the time, and why clearing the app cache remedies the issue only some of the time.
