Unstable Remote Access to Plex - Synology NAS and router

Synology 214play NAS ( DSM 6.2.3-25426 )

Hi, would appreciate any help you can offer with this.

Remote access has been patchy since I restarted the NAS. Will run for a minute or so, and then fall over.
Even when connected, the loading of my own plex libraries are much slower that those shared with me. (Download station also fall over and needs to be restarted regularly).

Running DHCP from 10.1.14.20 onwards.
Have assigned 10.1.14.2 for NAS.

I manually forward 32400 to the nas. ( and a bunch of others through UPnP )

Checked via Network Utility (Mac):

  • 32400 as open on private (local) IP
  • No result on the port through the public IP (Not sure if this the right test).
  • Local IP and public static IP pinged.

I have paid for a static ip through my ISP. Does not seem to be behind a carrier grade network and I don’t think it’s a double NAT issue.

  • IP for the NAS is the same as the public plex ip, and for my mac laptop.

Have read through the Plex remote access troubleshooting, and my setup seems to be following that to the best of my knowledge.
