Hi all. I recently attempted to upgrade my Plex server OS to LinuxMint 21. The pre-checks state that the plex repo “does not explicitly support my version of Linux Mint”.
Has anybody else had this issue? Is it simply a matter of waiting for the repo to be updated for support?
Thanks
Paul
If Mint is looking for a “Mint” branded repo, that won’t happen.
The repos are for DEB or RPM package managers (generic).
If your system is specifically complaining because of the repo definition and GPG key requirement — That fix is coming right now in PMS 1.28.1 and 1.28.2
(there was a bug in the packaging which engineering is “hotfixing” for me right now)
Still no change. This is the exact message when I run the “mintupgrade” tool. It performs a number of checks. The fix it offers removes the repo then also the subsequent redundant package(s). I realise that this is most likelt a linuxmint issue but just wondering if anybody else has come across this problem. Thanks.

Could this be related to the depreciation of apt-key in the latest version of LinuxMint?
Decided to take the plunge. I renamed the plex repo files in /etc/apt/sources.d and set the plexmediaserver to KEEP in the orphaned apps list (mintupgrade tool). Upgrade completed successfully. I have re-instated the repo files. Updated apps and the repo is checked as expected. All good.
Sorry for having been busy with the
around here.
You’re confirming the new repo signing is working correctly for you?
Good so far. No errors with apt-get update. I should have waited to install the recent plex server update after upgrading Mint. Didn’t think. Assuming the next upgrade plex is identified and installs from the repo, I think all should be good. If not I will remove the repo and re-add the keys.
Recently updated Plex via standard repo. All is working as expected.
