Update issue on NAS WD PR4100 with Plex Media Server 1.15.3.858

Hi.
I use Plex Media Server on my NAS WD PR4100 with last firmware: 2.31.174

I’ve installed the latest version of Plex Media Server : 1.15.3.858

In the NAS menu, Plex Media Server reports that it needs to be updated at version 1.7.2.3878 – May 26, 2017

It is clear that there is an error…

I also tried reinstalling Plex Media Server but nothing changed

How can I solve the problem?

Best regards, Max

I also am experiencing this same problem. The message is continuedly popping up in the alerts on all computers connected to NAS most annoying.

Yep. Bu here’s the solution. The version Plex keeps asking us to download is indeed from 2017. If you installed it, look in your downloads folder or wherever you store them. Look for any recent version you may have previously installed. Then go into your WD Cloud or whatever device you use and manually install the earlier in the normal way you did the “latest” version. It will warn that it’s already installed. Just accept it. Now you will see the previous edition of Plex. That should fix it. One bug I had was that I could view content on a PC or smartphone but not on TV.

Unfortunately that does not work. The moment you manually reinstall the current version. The Nas starts prompting for the 2017 version again

That’s distressing… in my case I realised the fault and a few hours later decided to go back to my previous version of Plex server update. Assuming you did the exact same and had not rebooted the server where you store your content (I use WD Cloud Xtra NAS) this ought to work. As a Plex Pass customer you need to raise it with Plex support. This error is clearly affecting a lot of people. If you’re a free version user I’m sure Plex will advise if they’re working on a patch. Good luck

I’m Plex Pass customer and I’ve already sent a ticket at Plex officcial support…
This was thier answer:

Very sorry you’re having trouble. Unfortunately, we can’t provide general support, troubleshooting, or investigation via email, so we handle those requests through our support forums (at https://forums.plex.tv/tags/c/plex-media-server/nas-devices/server-western-digital), which allow for in-depth investigation into issues by both our staff and helpful community members. Please post your own, specific details about your issue there for assistance. In the forum topic, attaching screenshots to help illustrate what you’re encountering can be useful.

i have the same issue and the fixes provided here are unfortunately useless, so i thank you for opening a ticket and i can’t wait to here from you cuz it really is annoying.

and for the other guys please stop giving answers that is not helpful if you don’t know then say nothing, cuz some of the “solutions” are disastrous.

The issue I think is that NAS Plex thinking that 1.7… version is actually 17… thats why when you update to 1.15 it tells you there is an update, on WD NAS only but on windows its working fine so for now just ignore WD update msg until they fix it.

thats to all

Hi. I would recommend re-downloading the latest Plex update ending 876 and manully re-installing it again. I did so on 9 April and pleased to confirm it is not a legacy version and works. I think Plex have noted the comments in the forum and rushed out a fix. So far works fine on all devices. Good luck.

PS. Plex have since updated the software again and that too works fine. Hope you resolve your issues.
