- Use the database repair .bat file from here DBRepair/Windows at master · ChuckPa/DBRepair · GitHub to ensure your database is in good health and won’t stall the upgrade due to damage. Use it in a CMD.exe window, with Plex server stopped beforehand using its task tray icon.
If the repair fails, restore one of the database backup copies and try again: https://support.plex.tv/articles/202485658-restore-a-database-backed-up-via-scheduled-tasks/ - disable any “Registry Cleaner” or “Windows cleanup” apps you may have running
- uninstall Plex Server using the regular Windows Apps control panel. Do NOT use any kind of “uninstaller” app.
- download and install the recent Plex server version https://www.plex.tv/media-server-downloads/?cat=computer&plat=windows#plex-media-server
