Releases are typically rolled out in stages. Guess you aren’t up yet. The new version is 8.28.0 which is a slightly newer version over the current beta.
Ok thankyou, ill keep an eye out for 8.28.
8.28 was available this morning for me. I’ve updated the app, confirmed it says 8.28 on the app and tried to download an episode. It’s still not working…
The episode download just stays in the “waiting to download” I never get the progress bar.
Perhaps as someone has said earlier that it is actually downloading but not showing the progress?
The other problem with this is the app isn’t keeping the tablet screen on whilst it’s showing “waiting” the screen just times out on whatever setting you have it set to.
This is exactly the same issue I experienced when I tried the Beta version and I did tell you this.
8.28 addresses the slow download to sd card issue. If it’s not downloading at all, that’s another issue I’ll need to look at. Please provide new logs after reproducing the problem.
Here someone else has reported the same issue of it only displaying “waiting” but is infact downloading in the background.
I don’t know what I’m doing with logs sorry.
@anon18523487 As mentioned above, I am having the same thing @CharlieR1985 has, where it says waiting to download the whole time it downloads until it finishes. This happens even on my phone with no sd card, so definitely a separate issue. It only happens to me sometimes. Perhaps related to file size?
App version 8.28.0.30077
I reproduced the problem and then pulled the logs.

Thanks mate.
@Joeys_Pet and @CharlieR1985 Another user found an issue recently. I don’t know if it’s the issue in your cases but worth checking.
Try to optimize a file, any file. Then check the conversion page. See if it actually transcodes or if it is paused. If paused, hit resume/continue, then cancel the job. Try downloading something again or refresh the page (swipe down on screen) if you still have jobs waiting.
Is that Web player functionality? I only use the android app sorry.
I can tell you though its unique to content over a certain size because I try and download a 20minute episode which is 1080p H.264 and it works instantly changing from waiting to downloading straight away and I get the progress bar. A 1hr epiosde that’s still 1080p H.264 just stays “waiting” for the entire time.
Didn’t help for me. Nothing was paused. I started a conversion anyway. Didn’t make a difference.
It seems that the teams on Plex are ignoring their IOS users, this issue has more than 6 months and still unresolved, I see a lot of people, including me, complaining about the IOS slow download on remote, or simply not working for them and the DEVs ignore them and don’t reply, or ask questions to try and diagnose the issue. I wonder if we should open an new thread specificly for the IOS issue, or what to call for attention to us. It has been more than a month since anyone from Plex gave an usefull reply, and it was regarding Android, Android seems to be fixed now on the beta while IOS user are still waiting for someone to acknowledge the problem.
Plex team need to understand that this is a PAID feature, so their CLIENTS expect and deserve PAID level assistance! 6 months is not acceptable to fix a “flagship” feature of the sold product.
Not sure what issue you’re referring at / updates you’re missing.
According to the updated original post, the iOS specific issues are all addressed in the current beta of Plex for iOS (version 7.27).
It’s definitely not fixed. There are still problems to sort.
That’s not to say your IOS issues are any less important ofcourse @serial_killer69 , hope they sort all these problems out ASAP.
I’m sorry, but it doesn’t seem to be the one missing updates, what they address and informed that was fixed, was DNS rebind issues on IOS (Downloads not working), not slow downloads on Remote on IOS like several people are here complaining… I don’t think DNS rebind is the issue there.
Any help for this @anon18523487 ?
Ah. I understand know. Let me look into this. It’s not something I’ve noticed myself.
Thanks mate.
I’m been testing some stuff with another user and was able to verify this. Smaller files will download quickly. It’s larger files that are slow.
Are you taking the piss now?
