when I try to set up media server in windows 10 I receive the following message, what do I do. I have tried to delete Plex and reinstall. Update your Plex Media Server
This version of the web app requires Plex Media Server 1.3.0 or higher. Use one of the links below to open an available, out of date server directly.
Update your Plex Media Server This version of the web app requires Plex Media Server 1.3.0 or higher
Do you have other Plex servers?
Did you have an old Plex server version installed on this machine before?
Deinstall Plex server per the normal Windows software control panel.
Reboot Windows
Download a recent installer file from the Download link above.
Install it.
hi thank you for the reply,
I had an old server installed and i uninstalled and downloaded the new version but still receiving the same message. I don’t know if this is relevant but I set up the old version using firefox and the new one in crome. Wen I try to log into my plex account in firefox it won’t recognise my login details
Did you perform the steps in the exact order like indicated above?
How do you load Plex Web?
Do you have Web browser extensions which manipulate the content of websites?
(AdBlock, NoScript, privoxy etc pp) disable them for now.
Is it possible that you used several plex.tv accounts in the past?
If so, you must use the same account both in Plex server as well as in Plex web (and all other Plex apps).
This procedure should allow you to re-assign the account for the server: https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/204281528-Why-am-I-locked-out-of-Server-Settings-and-how-do-I-get-in-
I did the steps as indicated, I have disabled adblock and allowed popups. I have only had the one Plex account. the registry didn’t have the files shown to delete in the above method
Say, do you have other computers in your local network?
Do you use NAS devices with the Plex server on it?
Are you using several Windows user accounts?
It is working, I logged out in crome, deleted it again and reinstalled using fire fox and it is running. Thanks for taking the time to help me. All the best alan
I just had this error today. In my case I updated my version when I logged into Plex on my PC and my Plex had an alert, “update found”. So I updated it. Then I logged into my WD NAS and installed it. Okay, no problems. Then after I installed it my WD NAS flagged me with an alert, “Update available for Plex”. So I updated it. The error message, “… Plex Media Server x.x.x or higher”.
What I did to fix it and what I noticed!
- When I updated the version of Plex when Plex alerted me of update, the version read 1.5.15… and all worked well.
- When I updated the version of Plex when my WD NAS alerted me of update, the version read 1723878, which is a weird number.
So the WD NAS pulls an update from somewhere totally different than my PC. PC is run on Windows, where WD NAS is run on Linux technology. Technology from Windows and NAS are different, the work together (for the most part), but there are differences. Linux uses packages and different name schema. So to see version 1723878 versus 1.15.5.994 seems the be the problem in my case. Both updated the same day. NAS with 1723878, and Plex Manual Update with 1.15.5.994. My Roku only worked with the Plex Manual Update 1.15.5.994 and did not work at all with the WD NAS update 1723878.
