Sadly, the database you gave me was too broken to fix, but you also uploaded the latest working backup of your database from 2021-08-22, and I’ve done a manual repair of that, and updated it to version 1.26.1.5772-872b93b91
You must now do the following:
Upgrade your PMS to the latest Plex Pass version
After it’s upgraded, shut down PMS
In file explore, open the database folder
Delete the following files:
com.plexapp.plugins.library.db
com.plexapp.plugins.library.db-shm
com.plexapp.plugins.library.db-wal
Download the file com.plexapp.plugins.library.db.zip from the dropbox link I DM’ed you
Unzip, and copy to the database folder
Start PMS again, and wait 5 min.
Verify you can access everything okay
Scan your libraries one by one (Wait for one to complete before scanning the next)
this is the most help i have received from plex. sorry about that. i will try to limit it to private messages if possible.
however, if you are having an issue with notifications then click the bell to the right and change it from watching to one of the other selections. that can accomplish the same desire as closing the thread.
This thread is about “Something went wrong” as it related to the logs showing “Bad Cast” as an error.
I would still be interested in following my thread (this one) as these replies relate to my original issue.
Typically forum rules require that different issues should be discussed in their own threads.
I don’t want to simply "turn off’ the notifications for my thread, and no, that’s not “the same desire as closing the thread”.
Of course it is not the same, but since you were asking about closing the thread while someone was still being assisted, I offered a solution that could help you out.
People post in threads with similar issues all the time around here for help. You should see how long some of those other threads go. It’s a help forum that isn’t all that active to begin with. My issue is and still is, “Something Went Wrong.” under libraries. Someone with a similar issue to both of us could benefit from all the information provided here.
You said, “typically forum rules require…” etc. Well, maybe it isn’t so typical atm. And the actual Plex employee had no issue addressing others with similar issues under this discussion. Often times people can find all sorts of solutions under the same/similar threads. When one recommendation doesn’t work there may be another in the same thread.
I don’t know if Plex really wants a new thread for every similar issue, but if so, that is also fine. Sometimes it can be more efficient overall as a community for things to be under one section or thread. A block feature would be really handy, so you could mute some of the replies. I am actually sorry to bother you. I just want Plex to work like it once did. I have had ongoing issues for years and not a whole lot of support. I have tried starting threads without any response, so I just deleted them to join others. It was encouraging to have an employee actually actively assist.
