I tried to move my music collection to a bigger hard drive and now plex can’t see any of my media. I originally did the instruction to copy it over and re add but since the sonic analysis was going to take so long, I decided to try the other method where you rename the original music library then name the new library the old name. After doing this and rebooting the server several times,. plex can’t find any of my local content even movies which have not been changed at all. I cannot edit any folder settings for music so it seems like the server isnt even startingup properly anymore.
The log files are showing that the server is busy with emptying its music library. Apparently because none of the music files is still in its place.
Is your music still on drive D:?
If not, you may want to
- change the drive letter of the drive which now has your music folder to D:
- restore an older safety copy of your primary server database file Restore a Database Backed Up via 'Scheduled Tasks' | Plex Support
The music does exist on drive D but it is the renamed new hard drive. After a couple of reboots, I was able to get the server up and remove the new hard drive with the original name that does not exist anymore. It is not doing the sonic scan and I am seeing all the music I expect to see, so it seems like I am ok now.
