Hi I run my plex on a synology NAS DS916+ and stream to my xbox one x, if I start upgrading my library to 4k quality what are the requirements?

the requirements are what works for you. Just start at bitrate or file size and see how things look.
Personally I think 4k is overrated.

know what you are getting into.
xbox one has myriad of problems with 4k and plex
Use emby works a dream with 4k stream. Have had a lot of problems with plex
Using an amazon firestick 4k format is brilliant
