upgrade plexconnect

Hi,

Just wanted to say thanks to the dev for this solution.

I have plexconnect working fine on my ATV2 and plexconnect running on my Macmini.

I have installed by downloading from the zip from github and following the install guide but...

what is the process to update plexconnect to version 0.5?

Thanks

Just grab the fresh ZIP from github and overwrite your current files. Then do a restart.

Nothing else needed.

thanks. that sounds easy! won't this overwrite my certificates? also, how do you do a restart? i have it running as daemon on my mac.

one other question. sorry. how can i tell what version I am currently running?

In the settings tab of plexconnect.

The best way is to git clone the plexconnect.git manually then you can git pull to update easily to new commits (versions):

# Installation

git clone https://github.com/iBaa/PlexConnect.git
# Updating
cd PlexConnect
git pull

https://github.com/iBaa/PlexConnect

https://github.com/iBaa/PlexConnect/wiki/Install-Guide-Mac

AppleTV on Ethernet

Also there is a OS X app called OpenPlex if you don't want to use the Official method.

thanks all. updated fine. I just downloaded the zip. stopped plexconnect. copied files from zip and copied my old certs then started the plexconnect. whole process took about 2mins.

one final off topic question... How the heck can you manually add a movie / show that just does not match? I have a kids tom and jerry xmas special video but i can't get it to match. tried renaming to etc. All i want to do is manually add the video and add a bit of info myself. Any suggestions?

Thanks again. Great stuff. It's nice to be able to update my ATV to latest firmware. been JB'd and running xbmc for the last couple of years.

If you can find the special on tmdb.com and you’ve named it exactly the same including the year and it still doesn’t match for some reason what I tend to do is tag it with all the meta data I want it to have using metax. Then choose fix incorrect match, let it scan and either find the wrong one or nothing and then click on auto match options and choose the local media assets I think it’s called. That then shows all the embedded metadata.

It’s handy to have the metadata embedded for anything that doesn’t match correctly automatically as if for any reason you need to rescan or rebuild your database and you’ve added all the data manually, you may need to do it all over again. This way you’ll only need to rescan each file using local media assets. Which should be a bit quicker.

thanks. that is great advice. much appreciated. I've spent hours on google trying to find a simple answer/solution like this.

I've had to rescan my media for various reasons, new server, hard drive problems etc and each time I've had to manually input everything again for anything unrecognised. Granted it's only a few files but still a pain. Came across this idea more by accident once whilst rescanning. I tag everything as I also use iTunes and I accidentally chose local media assets once when scanning and came up with this.
