Please help. I have tried typing in 127 etc in Chrome but in says it can’t be reached. I have checked that the proper path is correct and it is. I don’t understand. This is the only program that did not work after upgrading windows.
I’ve found that you have to perform a regular deinstallation, followed by a installation of the server.
- Stop/quit/end Plex Server with the tray icon
- deinstall Plex Server with the regular ‘Apps’ control panel of Windows (do not use 3rd party ‘Uninstaller’ software like Revo etc.)
- for safety, reboot Windows
- download the installation exe of the newer version and install it
(If you want to install an older version of PMS, take a look into %LOCALAPPDATA%\Plex Media Server\Updates)
There is no tray Icon. Am I going to lose all my settings, etc by uninstalling and reinstalling? Do I have to mess with the registry at all?
Under processes I see that it is there. And under Startup it says it is disabled.
Of course, the tray icon is only there if it is actually running. I should’ve taken that step out. Sorry for the confusion!
If you follow this procedure, no.
It might be only the “Plex Updater service”. That’s not Plex proper.
Thank you for your help. It worked!
